| How to use your OnPar |
| OnPar Overview |
Download PDF Version |
- Flush Touchscreen - Precisely touch screen to use features. (Note: if you have an iPhone or iPod, OnPar requires a touch and drag motion versus an iPhone or iPod touch and "flick" touch interface. Also, use a precise touch versus a harder mashing touch. The harder you press the screen, the less responsive/accurate your input). DO NOT STORE OnPar in carrying cases with a magnetic latch that would be near the touchscreen of your OnPar. The interference between the touchscreen and the magnet can cause the device to freeze.
- Display Brightness - direct sunlight readable; it gets brighter in the sunlight for better visibility
- Display size and resolution - Largest screen at 3.5” with 240 x 320 resolution
- Course Storage capacity - 300 (Note: the more courses you load, the longer the download time)
- Highly sealed unit increasing water resistance
- Built in rechargeable Lithium Ion battery - charges in ~ 3 hours with each charge lasting ~ 10 hours depending on use

| Acquiring Satellites |
Turn on OnPar and this page will be displayed. This page displays the status of acquiring optimal satellites and loading new courses. While OnPar is acquiring satellites, it will also show a status bar when any new courses have been added.
The circle around the OnPar flag will be completed after satellite acquisition is complete, and the device will automatically proceed to the “Menu” screen. This process may take several minutes. However, you can move forward from this screen by pressing the “Menu” button and the OnPar device will continue to acquire satellites.
Tip: Provide OnPar a clear view of the sky for quicker satellite acquisition.
Tip: You can touch “Menu” to jump to the menu screen and touch “Courses” to preview the course layout or holes while not on a course (at home, on plane, at office, etc.).
|
| |
| Menu Screen |
Icons on the Menu screen take you to other features or turn features On/Off with a simple touch.
When a feature is turned On, a red outline is shown around that icon.
Touch “Back” to go back to the previous screen you were on.
Below is a quick overview of what each icon does:
Courses – Takes you to the Courses screen where you can touch a course name and view that course.
Statistics – Takes you to a Statistics screen that displays your personal statistics based on shots, scores, or putts you have tracked.

| Course List |
The Course List screen displays the courses loaded on your device.
By default, courses are sorted alphabetically until GPS is acquired, and then courses are sorted by those closest to your current location.
The closest course to you will be highlighted orange (with GPS acquired).
Click on “Course” or “Miles” in the header to reverse sort order.
Touch and drag the course list up and down to scroll through the list.
Tip: OnPar requires a touch and "drag" motion versus an iPhone or iPod touch and "flick" motion. This will prevent accidentally selecting a course you were trying to scroll through.
Touch the course you would like to view or play.
|
| |
| Course View |
“Loading XYZ Course” will be displayed before the Course View appears to confirm which course you touched to be loaded.
Tip: If you accidentally touch the wrong course, simply touch the “Course” label (top center) to return to the course list.
Once on the Course View, touch and drag the course to pan it around to the hole you would like to view.
Touch the red hole label to view that hole.
|
| |
| Hole View |
The Hole View displays key pieces of information and quick access to additional features.
Distance information from you to the Front/Middle/Back of the green area are always displayed at the top and updated instantly as you move around the course.
Note: When viewing a hole that you are not physically located on, distances are from the back of the tee box area.
Touch anywhere on the hole view to see the “layup” distance to the point you touched AND the distance from the point touched to the green.
Tip: Use this feature to plan your shots and leave yourself with optimal distance into the green. A single touch provides you infinite target points with the key distances you want to know to plan your shots.
Touch the ball and drag it to a new location to see new “layup” distances.
Tip: Use a precise touch versus a harder mashing touch. The harder you press the screen, the less responsive/accurate your input
Touch anywhere away from the “layup” ball icon to remove and clear the view.
Touch and slide the Zoom icon (orange arrow at bottom of screen) to the right to see a close-up view.
Once zoomed in, use your finger to touch and drag the hole view around to get a closer bird’s eye view.
Touch and slide the Zoom icon to the left to get back to the entire hole view.
Touch the Green on the Hole View to switch to the Green View and have quick access to additional features.
Touch the Back button to return to the hole view.
Note: When you are 50 yards from the green, the Green View is automatically displayed. You can always touch the back button to return to the hole view.
|
| |
| Green View |
The Green View continues to provide key distance information and access to additional features.
Note: When user is within 5 yards of the green perimeter, the distance information bar will display “At Green”.
Touch and drag the target icon to position it anywhere on the green and distance will be shown to that new placement. Use the arrow icons along the edges of the screen to adjust the target location in increments of 1 yard.

One of the white distance labels shows the yardage from the edge of the green on your angle of approach to the target. The other white distance label shows the distance from the side of the green to the target. The black distance label next to the target shows how far the target is from the middle of the green (i.e., negative numbers mean the target is short x yards from the middle of the green).
Touch the “Back” icon to go back to the Hole View.
Touch the “Scorecard” icon to go to the Scorecard.
Touch the “Next Hole” icon to advance to the next hole. |
| |
| Auto Next Hole |
This feature works as follows:
- When you are looking at the hole view on your OnPar and the device is not in suspend, as you enter the tee box area of the next hole, a screen will display asking you "Proceed to next hole?"
- Answering YES will display the hole view of the next hole.
- Answering NO will take you back to your previous view. The question will be displayed again after 10 seconds if you are still in the tee box area of the next hole until you answer YES.
- This feature only works from the Hole View and the device must be out of suspend mode and user located in the next hole's tee box area.
- If your device was in suspend mode, you walked to the next hole, passed the tee box area, and then resumed your OnPar device in the middle of the fairway; the Auto Next Hole feature will not know to display the next hole view. You will need to manually advance to the next hole.
- Users can always manually advance to the next hole from the Scorecard view or close up Green view by pressing the "Next Hole" button.

| Tracking Shots |
Tracking shots can be done with a single touch. When you are on a golf course, a white ball icon represents your current position on the course.
Touch the white ball icon at the tee box and at the location of your shot after each stroke to track your shots.
The white ball icon will turn red to indicate that location has been saved. When you track another shot, a red line will be drawn to the previous location you saved.
A label will be displayed at the location you just saved. It will automatically show the distance from the previous saved shot and show the club used.
Note: The club used is based on the clubs you have assigned in your GolfBag in the OnPar device.
Note: If you need to change the club that was used, touch the distance label to choose a different club from your GolfBag.
Tip: If you used a club to punch a shot back into play and you don’t want that distance included in your golf club average, simply touch “Do not include in my average” icon bar. That distance will not be included in your average distance for that club.
|
| |
| OnClub |
OnClub displays your personalized club distances. When looking at a hole view, the club with the average distance closest to the distance from you to the green will be displayed.
After you have tracked shots for a round of golf, OnPar updates your average club distances based on your last 18 rounds of golf. Your personal club distances are always accurate and correspond with your current performance. |
| |
| OnShots |
After you have completed a golf round and tracked one, some, or all of your shots; the next time you view that course on your OnPar, you can turn on OnShots to see your tracked shots from your previous round.
Tip: Turn this feature on/off to see how your current round corresponds to your previous round of tracked shots. Learn from your past mistakes to not repeat them again.
Note: This feature does NOT track your shots. (Tracking Shots section above). This feature only allows you to see your tracked shots from your "previous" round.
|
| |
| OnMark |
This is a simple but powerful feature based on how you would like to use it. If you are playing a round of golf, and at a spot you would like to mark for future distance reference, OnMark will do this.
Note: This feature does NOT track your shots. (Tracking Shots section above). This feature only allows you to "Mark" personal targets to always see the distance from that mark back to your position.
While you are standing at the location you would like to mark, turn OnMark on and an icon appears on the hole view above the Menu button that enables you to save your mark. Touch this OnMark icon while standing at the spot you would like to mark for future distance reference. You can now see the distance from you to that mark.
In future rounds, if you have the OnMark feature on, you will always see these marks or targets that you have saved during previous rounds. Turn OnMark off to stop displaying marks.
If you would like to delete a mark, touch the mark label representing the marked location and a delete button appears. Press delete to remove the mark or touch anywhere else on the screen to leave the mark saved. |
| |
| Golf Bag / Club Power |
Touch the club icons to assign them to your OnPar GolfBag. The Club number will change from white to red font to confirm your selection. Scroll up or down to view all the club choices available.
Note: Your OnPar GolfBag comes with clubs already assigned to your GolfBag. Touch to assign/unassign as necessary.
Note: The Tracking Shots feature and OnClub will only use the clubs you have assigned to your GolfBag.
From the GolfBag Screen, you can touch the ClubPower icon to view your personal club distance information.
Your Minimum, Average, and Maximum distances are shown for the clubs assigned in your OnPar GolfBag.
To conform to the USGA, we are not allowed to update the club averages shown on the ClubPower screen until 1 calendar day after that round of golf. When your device acquires a signal to update its date and time, it will show the updated averages.
A golfer can "reset" their club averages. To use this feature, navigate through the following screens: Menu > GolfBag > Club Power. At the bottom of the Club Power screen, a golfer would touch "Reset Club Averages" and a pop up window will appear asking to confirm reset "Yes/No". If a golfer touches "Yes", the Min/Avg/Max are reset to zero.
Note: when using the OnClub feature after resetting your club averages, all club averages are changed to the factory default settings until new shots are tracked to begin automatically updating the club averages again. No data is deleted; however, the club average data is calculated based from golf rounds after the reset is used. Reset can be used as often as a golfer chooses.

| Settings |
Settings screen allows a golfer to adjust time zone, measurement units, reset statistics, calibrate touchscreen, reset GPS, and displays your user information
Time Zone: Adjust the time shown on your device to the appropriate Time Zone by touching the Time Zone pull down menu and selecting your appropriate time zone.
Note: When you turn on your OnPar outdoors, it will take about 30 seconds to acquire the correct time from GPS satellites.
Measurement: Adjust the measurement units from Yards to Meters by touching the pull down menu and selecting Yards or Meters. The default setting on OnPar is yards.
Calibrate Touchscreen: Touch “Calibrate” if you feel you need to reset the calibration of your device.
Note: Your OnPar touchscreen comes optimally calibrated.
Tip: For quicker and more accurate response when using the OnPar touchscreen, press lightly and accurately for more responsive results. Pressing harder on the touchscreen DOES NOT make OnPar more responsive and could damage your device.
Reset GPS: Touch “Reset” if you travel frequently and feel your device is taking longer to acquire satellites than when you are at your home course. Touching reset will clear all stored GPS data received from satellites and start fresh.
Note: Resetting the GPS on your device may cause satellite acquisition time to take longer. Once your OnPar device acquires the GPS satellite data from your location, acquiring satellites from that location should be quicker.
Note: Weather, terrain, atmosphere, and surroundings all have an effect on the speed and retention of acquiring satellites.
Device Information: Your contact, device, and software version information are displayed here.

| Statistics |
View your overall statistics based on the shots, scores, and putts you track with OnPar.
To view your statistics, touch the Statistics icon. If you have already selected a course, then the Statistics displayed will have a black header "This Course". These are the stats based on the shots and scorecard information you have tracked with your OnPar on this specific course.
If you would like to see your overall statistics for all courses you have played, touch the black header until it displays "ALL Courses".
Note: If you download some new courses and remove a course that you had statistics saved, those stats remain in the device. (Example: Course A and B are added, but course C is removed. Course C saved shots and scores are still included in the "All Courses" statistics calculation on your OnPar; however, the "This Course" statistics calculation for course C is not displayed because the course was removed from the OnPar device.) All recent statistics and scores are always available for download from your MyOnPar page after every time you synchronize.
Statistic Definitions:
Avg. Putts Per Round - This is the sum of all putts saved on all holes completed during an 18 hole round of golf divided by 18 holes. Each hole must have number of putts information entered for this calculation to be displayed; otherwise, "NA" is displayed.
Avg. Putts Per Hole - This is the sum of all putts on all holes were number of putts information was entered in the scorecard divided by the sum of all putts where putts were saved.
Average Score - This is the sum of total scores for all rounds where a score was saved for all 18 holes divided by the sum of all rounds played where a score was saved for all 18 holes.
Score % Breakout Bar - this is the percentage of different score categories (Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogey, DBogey, and DBogey+) of all scores saved.
Long Drive - Drive is considered as the first shot off the Tee Box using a driver (wood), excluding par 3 holes. Clubs eligible for longest drive calculation are any fitting the woods category of drivers (typically 1 - 7), as apposed to "Irons" which are not to be considered longest drive eligible clubs.
Average Drive - Average drive is the average of all drives as defined above in Long Drive. (Exceptions are those drives where a golfer has used the edit tracked shots feature and touched the "Do not include in my averages" button.
Fairway Driving Accuracy - Calculates the percentage of all shots that user tracked from the teebox. A golfer is asked "Fairway in Regulation?" after a golfer saves the location of their first landing location on a hole. If golfer answers yes, OnPar assumes fairway hit. If golfer answers no, OnPar can tell if user is on the left or right side of the fairway and automatically updates the scorecard. OnPar automatically asks this question to take into account when fairways are cut tighter or grown out at different times.
Greens in Regulation - When a golfer tracks their shot that landed on the green, OnPar will always ask "Greens in Regulation?" If golfer answers yes, then OnPar calculates the percentage of all shots landed on the green that were answered yes, divided by all holes where Greens in Regulation were tracked. |
